With love. A note for parents.
The importance of our teens
Today, one in four cases of mental health conditions are triggered between age 14-21. Depression, anxiety and suicide are the biggest health concerns in our youth.
Our culture underestimates the importance of our teen years and it is very easy to label our young ones as annoying, selfish, moody.
The reality is that being a teen is a challenging time, they are going through a process of complete transformation, on so many levels. They are opening up to the world and they don't feel equipped to go through this, they literally feel like jumping into a river without a life jacket.
We can change the statistics and see more teens and adults walking with a smile, proud of who they are and sharing their gifts with the world.
Instead of worrying about the numbers, we invite you to be part of the solution with us.
"It takes a village to raise a child"
They say it takes a village to raise a child.
For me, being a mother has been the best personal development training. It would definitely not be the same without the amazing support of my mentors, my husband Alex and the beautiful people around me.
For our teens, it is invaluable to have different point of views, role models and like-minded friends that are going through the same and who they can openly speak with. Sometimes is even better when they are not part of their regular school or sport clubs.
For us, as parents, it is really important to accept that, during their teen years, our kids are looking for support beyond ourselves. It is part of their journey to become confident individuals. I hope it brings you peace knowing that your kids have a community of friends and mentors with similar values supporting them.
We are a team
Even though The Teen Villa is a space dedicated to our teens, we will always work with you as a team. If you choose to, we can notify you about the tools we are learning but we encourage you to be the student and ask your teen to share them with you. This could be a wonderful opportunity to create time to bond and acknowledge the wonderful teachers they can be.
We look forward to sharing this journey with you and your family.
